UEFA Champions League 2015-16 English Clubs Transfers Review

It has just been a week since the summer transfer window for the English Premier League (EPL) season 2015-16 officially opened but majority of the UEFA Champions League qualifying clubs didn’t want to take any chances and had started negotiating a deal with their targeted players way before anyone else could scoop them up or even before the transfer season was officially open for the summer signings.

While the transfer window for the summer signings closes on September 1st, here is a list of all the transfers and signings that have already taken place over the past few weeks and a look at how it might impact all of the clubs performance this season.

Arsenal FC

Petr Cech

IN –

Petr Cech - Chelsea, £10m

OUT –

Lukas Podolski – Galatasaray, £1.8m (rising to around £10m)

Ainsley Maitland-Niles – Ipswich, Loan

Brandon Ormond-Ottewill – Swindon, Free

Ryo Myaichi – St Pauli, Undisclosed

Semi Ajayi – Cardiff, Undisclosed

What it might imply

While many of Chelsea fans might have hated goalkeeper Petr Cech for signing with The Gunners, Arsenal fans would be delighted and would now hold real positive hope for the upcoming season. Also with Theo Walcott finishing last season in style, the team only looks to be stronger in season 2015/16. Though Gunners’ fans would still be little bit nervous about Lukas Podolski being transferred out of Arsenal and would be hoping to find a strong replacement for him before the summer transfer window closes on them.

Chelsea FC

Radamel Falcao

IN –

Radamel Falcao - AS Monaco

Tomáš Kalas - Middlesbrough FC

Lucas Piazón - Eintracht Frankfurt

Cristian Manea - FC Viitorul Constanța

Marko Marin - RSC Anderlecht

Josh McEachran - Vitesse

Victor Moses - Stoke City

Nathan - Atlético Paranaense

Oriol Romeu - VfB Stuttgart

Mario Pašalić - Elche CF

Bertrand Traoré - Vitesse

Marco van Ginkel - AC Milan

Wallace - Vitesse

OUT –

Mario Pašalić - AS Monaco

Lewis Baker - Vitesse

Petr Čech - Arsenal FC

What it might imply

With Chelsea’s star players Didier Drogba and Petr Cech choosing to walk away from the club this season, the Premier League champs might have been in trouble five years ago, but with both star players being 32+ and no longer holding place in Chelsea’s regular line up, the move away from the club seems like a better option and should not make much of a difference even though Jose Mourinho wanted them to reconsider their decision.

Also clubs decision to bring Radamel Falcao to Stamford Bridge is an interesting one, as Falcao’s disappointing run with Manchester United is not hidden and the signing is only getting The Blues fans more intrigued as to Mourinho has got planned for him.

Manchester City FC

IN –

Shay Facey (to join in Jan/16) - New York City FC

Enes Ünal - Bursaspor

Sinan Bytyqi - SC Cambuur

Angus Gunn - Manchester City (A-Junioren)

Marcos Lopes – Lille OSC

Karim Rekik - PSV Eindhoven

Bruno Zuculini - Córdoba CF

OUT –

Karim Rekik - Olympique Marseille

Dedryck Boyata - Celtic FC

Frank Lampard - New York City FC

James Milner – Liverpool FC

What it might imply

Even with departure of James Milner and Frank Lampard, the club still holds almost the same squad which got them to the top two positions in the Premier League season last time around. They also have few very interesting prospects to join the team this season and with still over a month to go before the transfer window is closed, this will be one team to keep your eye on as to who they signup.
