ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2016 Squads All Teams [ India, Pakistan, Australia]

ICC World T20 2016 Squads: The next edition of ICC World T20 will be played on 8 March 2016- 3 April 2016 in India. The event is a marquee ICC event that was first played in 2007 in South Africa and since the advent of T20 cricket has become one of the most eye-catching and popular events of cricket all over the world.

Sri Lanka will be looking to defend their titles, which they won in 2014 in Bangladesh while India will be looking to win the tournament for the second time after losing in the finals the last time. The tournament will begin with the qualifier round which will be played amongst the 6 associate nations. The top two teams from the qualifier round will progress to the main tournament which has the 10 Test playing nations.

Many teams have announced their squads for the marquee tournament, only Oman, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe have not announced their squads till now.

Australia decided to give include the inform players like Usman Khawaja, Ashton Agar and surprise pick Adam Zampa in the squad. Steven Smith replaced Aaron Finch as the captain of the T20 team and they brought in Peter Nevill as a proper wicketkeeper. The major players to miss out were Shaun Marsh, Nathan Lyon and Shaun Tait.

England, who rediscovered the limited overs format, had big success in ODI format. They have now learnt to use the correct players for correct format and hence, they have gone in with specialists like James Vince, uncapped Liam Dawson. Though the non-inclusion of Luke Wright, who was in form in the Big Bash league raised questions, England has got it correct it seems.

India who is hosting the ICC World T20 for the first time is banking on the experience, this time, to get India the T20 world title the second time. They have recalled Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Ashish Nehra into the squad along with newbies Pawan Negi, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah.

Pakistan will be led by mercurial Shahid Afridi who will be probably playing his last international tournament. They have dropped opener Ahmed Shehzad while going for new blood like Rumman Rais and Mohammad Nawaz. Fast bowler Umar Gul also missed out while Mohammad Amir will be playing his first ICC even after his return to international cricket.

South Africa who are going through a rough phase right now, has put fate in their known players. They, unfortunately, left out both Morne Morkel and Albie Morkel, who is considered a T20 expert player. They have included Aaron Phangiso to aid Duminy and Tahir in the spin department.

New Zealand was devastated when Brendon McCullum decided to bid goodbye to the international cricket after the Test series against Australia. One of the most devastating batsman in the format, McCullum saw it fit to bid goodbye, so that his replacement Kane Williamson could take over and lead the team in a major tournament prepared.

Bangladesh tigers are high on the success of their previous series and have no big surprises in their team apart from some new faces like Nurul Hasan, Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Muktar Ali. They will be led by Mashrafe Mortaza and will have the ODI wonderboy Mustafizur Rahim in their ranks to bolster the bowling.

2012 World T20 winners West Indies will be led by Darren Sammy and include T20 stars like Andre Russell, Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Samuel Badree. They also included mystery spinner Sunil Narine in the squad. But a payment dispute between the players and the West Indies cricket board is threatening the participation of the team.

Afghanistan:

One of the strongest nations in the associates, Afghanistan recently won their first T20 series against a full-time member when they defeated Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe. They have players like Mohammad Shahzad, Gulbadin Naib, and Dawlat Zadran who made their name in the World Cup in 2015 and in the recent series. They will be led by Asghar Stanikzai.

Hong Kong qualified for the Associate T20 tournament last year and with their inform batting consisting of Mark Chapman, who made a century on ODI debut and bowling of Babar Hayat, they can stake a claim in the main draw.

Another team that can pretty much cause a big upset is Netherlands who were bolstered by the presence of former South African player Roeloef van der Merwe, who played for the Dutch team after his hopes of playing for the Proteas ended.
