EPL 2015-16 Four New Rules | Offside Rule, Feign Injury, Manager Behavior, Surrounding Officials

The new season of English Premier League 2015-16 is just to start today before this EPL authority have introduced new Offside rule for the new season of EPL. Also the new rule for players who pretend to be injured or hit by another player to get a Free Kick or Penalty.

With these above two rules, the third rule is to monitor behaviour in the technical area more clearly. Fourth rule is that Players surrounding the match officials is restricted.

Below we will discuss all the 4 rules in details:

Rule No. 1 - The Offside Rule:

Read carefully. The change is If a player hits a goal and his team player in an offside position wants to hit the ball even if he can’t hit, then it is considered as an offside and goal is not been considered.

The Premier League describe this as: “A player in an offside position shall be penalised if he; 1. Clearly attempts to play a ball which is close to him when this action impacts on an opponent or; 2. Makes an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball.”

Rule No. 2: Pretending Field Injury to get opponent Red Card:

Players who try to pretend to be injured may be sent off by giving Red Card. This is only applied on those who feign injury to get other player sent off.

One more thing, if a player found guilty in pretending the injury after the match while investigating the decision, then he may be banned for 3 matches.

Screenplay:

  • Player A has been given Red Card for Violence
  • Referee overturned the decision after reviewing the incident and found that Player B has pretend to be injured
  • Player B is found guilty and could face a 3 match ban

In February 2014, West Ham striker Andy Carroll was sent off after appearing to catch Swansea defender Chico Flores with his arm. Carroll’s appeal was dismissed and the three-game ban stood

If the ban had been overturned, Flores could now face a possible FA charge for feigning injury in order to get an opponent sent off

Rule No. 3 - Manager Behaviour Technical Area:

The Football governing councils FA, Premier League, Football League, LMA and PFA agreed to pass a rule for Manager Behaviours in Technical Area.

When Manager:

  • Kicks a water bottle for disagreeing yellow or red car given by referee
  • Firstly Manager is warned
  • Secondly He will be sent to stand by referee

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore told BBC Sport: “A bit of the soap opera is good. Clearly, if it oversteps the mark and gets into the unedifying category it needs to be dealt with.

“You are going to see a graded approach. It is not going to stop some of the fun and games, but hopefully it should stop some of the unedifying moments.”

In April 2014, Chelsea coach Rui Faria was sent to the stand by referee Mike Dean (left) having become incensed by the awarding of a penalty

Then Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson avoided an FA charge last season after clashing with Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur

Rule No. 4 - Match Officials Surrounded by Players:

Only fewer players allowed to talk to referee

  • If two or More than 2 players approach the referee in attacking manner
  • Team may face penalty if Referee reports this to officials

Before this season rule is 3 or more players confront the referee.
