MLS Broadcasting Rights 2015 | ESPN, SKy Sports Signs New TV Deal

MLS Broadcasting Rights 2015: Major League Soccer is the American Premier Football League. There is total of 20 teams, with 17 teams from the USA, and 3 teams from Canada. The season starts in March and ends in October every year. This year is the 20th season of the Major League Soccer, LA Galaxy is the defending Champions.

Broadcasting Rights in the USA:

Major League Soccer agreed on current Television deal in May 2014. ESPN, FOX Sports, and Univision Deportes secured the broadcasting rights of MLS until 2022. As per the current deal, all three television networks are telecasting exclusive Match of the week, with Univision is showing game of the week on Friday evening, and follow-up show on Sunday on UniMás. Univision is providing the exclusive coverage of Friday game in Spanish for the first time. Under the new agreement, ESPN and FOX Sports 1 are providing the coverage of back to back matches on Sunday, with more than 125 will be telecast every year.

Under the current broadcasting deal in the USA:

• ESPN to show 34 league games exclusively on Sunday mainly at ESPN2.
• ESPN also has digital rights for all platforms and devices to provide online streaming of MLS for the games which network telecast on Television.
• While Fox Sports is providing the coverage of 34 matches per season primarily on Fox Sports 1.
• Meanwhile, Fox Sports offering the online streaming of games which the network is showing on TV across all digital platforms on FOX Sports GO mobile app and FOXSportsGO.com.
• Univision will telecast 34 games per season on Friday on UniMás.

Canada:

TSN, Sportsnet, TVA Sports and GolTV Canada has broadcasting rights of Major League Soccer in Canada. According to the deal, TSN and TSN2 show 32 matches each season. TSN also broadcast MLS in French on RDS and RDS2, While Sportsnet provide the coverage of Toronto FC games and TVA on-air the matches of Montreal Impact, GolTV Canada broadcast selected all-U.S. matchups.

For India Viewers:

Ten Sports has exclusive rights to broadcast Major League Soccer in India and South Asia. Ten Sports shows the MLS on multiple channels which include Ten Action.

For UK Viewers:

In UK Sky Sports has bought exclusive rights to broadcast MLS in the UK for the first time. Sky Sport has secured the Television rights of four years.
