Juventus Star Andrea Pirlo Likely to give ISL 2015 a miss for MLS

While football fans across the world is eagerly waiting for the 2015-16 edition of the English Premier League (EPL) to start, India too is gearing up to host their second edition of the much anticipated Indian Super League (ISL) 2015.

Just like EPL, ISL too is currently open to new player signings and transfers and the 8 league teams have been looking around to not only recruit young Indian talents, but few are also looking to scout new international Marquee players and managers.

One of the biggest names under discussion for this edition of ISL was Italian player, Juventus Star Andrea Pirlo, who is believed to have been approached by an ISL club to be their marquee player, but it seems the 36 year old mid-fielder has declined to take part in this edition of ISL due to differences in the wages that was being offered to him.

Pirlo, who still has a year contract left with Italian club Juventus, is believed to have been offered Rs20 crores, that is the current salary cap for any ISL club. But even the maximum amount that can be offered by an ISL club is far less that what Pirlo is currently earning, and thus he is most likely to sign a contract with Major League Soccer (MLS) club New York City FC.

Meanwhile, ISL team NorthEast United FC has signed former Portuguese player Simao Sabrosa to be their Marquee player this season, while former Chennaiyin FC player Mikael Silvestre has decided to miss the second season of ISL as he has been appointed the vice-president at French Club Rennes.

The second season of ISL is scheduled to kick off on October 3rd’2015 with its final game being held December 20th, 2015.
