India’s series of Zimbabwe will consist of 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is . The tour which seemed to be in limbo due to broadcast conflict between BCCI and the series broadcast channel Ten Sports, which is owned by Zee Entertainment Private Limited.
But after days of speculation and negotiations from the Zimbabwe cricket board, India has confirmed the tour to Zimbabwe for 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is, all of which will be played on the Harare Sports Club. The last time India toured Zimbabwe was in 2013, when the Indian team lead by Virat Kohli white washed the Zimbabwe team. Amit Mishra picked up 18 wickets in the series with a best of 6/48, while Shikhar Dhawan top scored with 209 runs in 4 matches.
Things will be different this time for the hosts, who had one of the most competitive series in Pakistan, as they will be without Brendan Taylor who scored a century against India in World Cup, which was his last ODI for Zimbabwe. But they will gain strength from their batting and bowling performances from the Pakistan series.
India will be missing some of the senior players with the speculation of players like Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, R.Ashwin, Umesh Yadav and Mohit Sharma sitting out, making way for young players who fared well in domestic cricket and IPL. Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina are the front runners for the captaincy position.
