The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) released the India vs South Africa 2015 Series Schedule of Test, ODI, and T20 Series.
In what is considered the longest tour of South Africa to India (72 days), the tour will begin on September 29, 2015, with a practice T20 match and end on 6th December on completion on 4th Test. The series will have 3 T20s, 5 ODIs and 4 Test matches; which can be termed as a full series under ICC regulations. It will also be the first time; South Africa will play 4 Tests in India in a series.

The tour will begin with the T20s first, with Cuttack, Dharamshala and Kolkata being the T20 venues for the matches. “I am delighted to confirm, together with the BCCI, the Proteas’ itinerary for our tour of India later this year,” said CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat.
The ODIs will be played from October 11- 25, 2015 on India vs South Africa 2015 Series venues such as Mumbai, Kanpur, Indore, Rajkot, and Chennai.
South Africa will definitely be looking forward to taking revenge of their defeat at the hands of India in the ICC World Cup 2015 earlier this year. Both the teams India and South Africa ended up being defeated in the semi-finals by Australia and New Zealand respectively.
The ODI series will be followed by the 4 Test series, the first of a kind between the 2 nations. The Tests venues are Mohali, Bangalore, Nagpur and Delhi and the Test series will begin on November 5 and the 4th Test will begin on December 3rd, 2015.
What’s special is that, if the series goes according to the plan, Bangalore would host the 100th Test match of AB de Villiers. He had played 98th Tests matches on the trot before he missed the 2 Test series against Bangladesh in order to be at home to witness the birth of his first child, a boy.
CSA President Haroon Lorgat said that.” If all works out this will be AB de Villiers’ 100th Test match and it could not be a more appropriate venue as it has become AB’s second home through his involvement with the Royal Challengers Bangalore.”
South Africa has won a Test series once in 2000 when they defeated India 2-0 in the 2 Test series. India won the ODI series 3-2. This was the series in which the match-fixing scandal finally revealed its ugly head and resulted in Hansie Cronje, Mohammad Azharuddin, Ajay Jadeja and many others being banned for the various period of time.
One of the Tests was earlier scheduled at the Motera Ground in Ahmedabad, but renovations at the ground forced the Test to be moved to the PCA stadium in Mohali and the T20I match scheduled at Mohali was allotted to Cuttack.
The whole series will be telecasted live on Star Sports network and website.
