The Mexican Miguel Layún helped Watford start with an unstoppable finish. After Troy Deeney had a shot blocked, Jurado crossed from the left, Phil Jagielka could not clear and Layún drilled his shot past Tim Howard.
Ross Barkley hit a brilliant shot to equalize, but Odion Ighalo registered his 18th goal in 20 league games to give Watford the lead. It was not looking good for Everton, but three minutes later, substitute Kone snatched a draw with an angled finish across Heurelho Gomes.

Half Time: Watford were playing cool and composed football and deserved their lead as Everton were poor and slow in attack and defence.

Full Time: As the match was finishing, two fast goals in the last ten minutes produced a thrilling finish as Everton showed their experience to draw the match.

It was a very mixed and fresh Watford side as the team contained 11 different nationalities, the match day squad 16. The vocal Quique Sánchez Flores is also their fifth manager in a year.
