Chelsea drew 2-2 against Swansea City in the opening fixture for the defending champions in the 2015-2016 Barclay’s Premier League season.
The hosts had to share a point with as Bafetimbi Gomis scored from the penalty spot to settle the scores after Chelsea’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was given a red card.

Chelsea went ahead as Oscar’s free-kick put the Blues ahead before Andre Ayew scored a close range equaliser for Swansea.
Federico Fernandez put Willian’s cross past his own keeper and scored an own goal as Swansea went into halftime 2-1 down.
In the big news of the match, Chelsea goalkeeper Courtouis fouled Gomis in the penalty area and was shown the red card and sent off the pitch.
His replacement, new boy Asmir Begovic could not save the penalty but played brilliantly afterwards and made some outstanding contributions from in goal.
Swansea played with an extra man for more than half an hour but could not make the most of the advantage. They had several chances, but they could not score.
Half Time: At the break, Swansea had played very well but the own goal made Chelsea favorites to win the match as they are famous for winning once they get the lead.
Full Time: After scoring the penalty, Swansea dominated and had much close chance though Chelsea’s experienced defense did what they always do: they gave Swansea no chance and also had some chances of their own near the end.

It was an uncharacteristically bad home display from the champions. Swansea, on the other hand were magnificent for the first hour or so. A draw was a fair result.
