English Premier League’s (EPL) top lot Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal along with few others seems to be fighting it out to sign a deal with Ghana defender Baba Rahman from the German side Augsburg. But the German club is determined to keep their star defender and have thus demanded €20m (£14m) for the defender.
Rahman, who turned 21 today, (2nd July) had joined Augsburg last summer and had a very impressive season at Bundesliga. His performance in the German League got a lot interest directed towards him including that from Roma, Juventus, Internazionale, Atlético Madrid, along with EPL’s above lot.
Rahman’s performance had helped Augsburg finish 5th in Bundesliga- the highest finish the club has ever got in its history. They are thus determined to keep Rahman with the club as he still has four years left to his contract.
What might not turn in Augsburg’s favor is the fact that Rahman seems to be interested in moving to England this season and interest by some of EPL’s top lot will only seem to tempt the young player more.
While Chelsea has already contacted Rahman’s representatives last month and are interested in making a potential bid, Manchester City seems to be keeping a close tabs on the situation, as the team is in search for a long-term solution to their left-back problem .
Arsenal manager also seems to be keeping a close eye on Rahman after the defender seemingly impressed Arsène Wenger with his performance in the Bundesliga.
