Big Bash 2016-17 Prize Money: Big Bash is the Australian Premier t20 Competition. Its is sponsored by KFC. Big Bash Prize Money is tripled this year in 2015-16 as compared to the 2014-15 BBL04 season. But unfortunately, players salaries not increased this year. Players of Perth Scorchers or Brisbane Heat who helped their teams to reach the Final of Big Bash will not get an increase in their Salary Cap this year. The increased prize money will definitely boost the pockets of Franchises.
Big Bash is run by Cricket Australia as IPL is run by BCCI, India. We know that IPL is cashing big money to players and Franchises. But Big Bash has seen growth from 2014-15 season where there is an increase in on ground audience and online visitors. So Australia Cricket Board decided to triple the prize money for the BBL05 season. Big Bash is starting from this week on 17th Dec 2016. The first match will be played between Sydney Thunders and Sydney Sixers. You can check out the schedule of Big Bash 2015-16.
The prize money reached up to $8,90,000 after cancelling of Champion League t20 and there is an increase of $4,50,000 which is 3 times of last year’s prize money.
But an extra $600,000 in the total prize pool this season will be directed to the franchises and their state owners rather than to the players involved in successful teams themselves. It means players have to play less for the BBL05 season.
Earlier, Players will get 50-50 of a total of US $2.5 million from Franchise which is the winner’s amount for Champions League T20. Like as in 2012, Sydney Sixers won the CLt20, which means half amount will be divided into players and rest will be left for Franchise owners.
Perth Scorchers and Syndey Sixers has already qualified for CLt20 of this year as they reached to Big Bash Finals of the 2014-15 season. But as of now CLt20 had been cancelled so they will not get $US250,000 which they simply get by qualifying for the lucrative event.
Star Sports the prime India Broadcaster of Worldwide Cricket events in India have the contract of $900 million – 10 years for CLt20 which now had been cancelled. They only served for 3 years contract period.
